Special Educational Needs
SENCO Miss C Logan-Meredith
Inclusion at Sowerby
Sowerby is a highly inclusive primary school which strives to meet the individual needs of all its learners. We work in partnership with children, parents and other agencies to provide the best possible outcomes for all our children, including those with a range of additional and complex needs. The school’s SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) policy and procedures ensure that high expectations, early intervention and appropriate support for all our children is in place to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
The SENDCo Is Mrs Carol Logan-Meredith and the SEND Link Teacher is Mrs Keeley Ungerechts
At Sowerby we are committed to:
- The Safeguarding and wellbeing of all children and adults
- Unlocking every child’s potential to learn and succeed
- Early intervention and the Early Support principles

SEND Information Report
All North Yorkshire maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND.) They are supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, whatever their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. The Local Authority publishes its information report which provides information for children and young people with special educational needs (SEND) and their parents or carers in a single place.
